Each year, the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, in cooperation with New Jersey's county bar associations and the New Jersey State Bar Association, sponsors a highly competitive Mock Trial Competition which has won many national awards for excellence.
Through this program, students develop their writing, reading, listening and analytical skills as well as an understanding of the law and how our justice system works by generating, developing, and writing a unique Mock Trial case that includes: a case title, a statement of facts, a clearly defined issue, witnesses (3 for the prosecution, two for the defense), witness statements, instructions for the proceeding, sub-issues, key legal concepts, and the pertinent law (a fictional law generated by the students or an actual state or federal statute).
This year, through our MIAD program and under the direction of Mr. Craig, our Mock Trial Team developed a high caliber submission for the 7th & 8th Grade Mock Trial program competition, Law Adventure, in just two weeks!
We are excited to announce that the original trial drafted by St. Cassian School's Mock Trial team was selected as one of the best 6 entries out of over 100 entries submitted by schools across the state of New Jersey! Congratulations to Mr. Craig and the Mock Trial Team on this incredible accomplishment!
