As part of the Scholars in Residence Program, St. Cassian School partners with organizations like Xylem Inc., a water solutions and technology company, to provide students with hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) experiences.

This year, students explored global water challenges through expert-led activities. Fourth graders studied water as a vital resource and created water filtration systems, while seventh graders participated in the World Water Monitoring Event. During their visit to Yantacaw Pond Park, they tested water temperature, turbidity, pH, and dissolved oxygen levels, contributing their data to a global monitoring database.
Through the school’s STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Program, students will continue their research into global water issues. They will design engineering prototypes and awareness campaigns to address these challenges. The culmination of their work will be featured at the school’s STREAM Fair this spring.
This program exemplifies St. Cassian School’s dedication to real-world learning, inspiring students to think critically and develop solutions to global challenges.
