The Mock Trial Program, sponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, is a powerful example of how we bring authentic, real-world learning into the classroom. Through this program, students engage directly with the American legal system by taking on the roles of attorneys, witnesses, and jurors in a simulated courtroom setting. Guided by real judges, attorneys, and other legal professionals, students gain invaluable insight into the workings of the justice system.

Beyond legal knowledge, the experience emphasizes the development of key life skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork, all within an engaging, hands-on environment. The program not only enriches our curriculum, but also empowers students to grow into confident, capable thinkers and communicators.

We are very grateful to Hon. John I. Gizzo, J.S.C., Law Clerk Sam Mastrianni, Dan Krieger, Esq., and Officer Lawrence for their time and dedication in making this experience meaningful for our students. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Steven Llanes, Esq. and Katrina Llanes, Esq.—seventh-grade parents—who generously shared their legal expertise to inspire and help prepare our students for the mock trial event. Special thanks go to Mrs. Cecere, our middle school Social Studies teacher, for leading our seventh graders throughout this journey.
